On a cold winter night, there's nothing better than snuggling in a warm bed. One very simple method of having that bed warm and inviting is the use of an electric blanket. Electric blankets began to evolve to public use in the 1920s when they were used to cover TB patients who were required to sleep in the fresh air.
1. Most of the newer models have long cords to allow you to use them in any situation. That, absolutely, will be more convenient than old one.
2. Newer blankets for larger sized beds often have separate controls for each side of the bed. Adjust your side of the bed. If you like it warm and your partner doesn't, duel controls allow you each to have it your way. Usually these are available only on king and queen sizes electric heating blanket.
3. Newer electric blankets have a shutoff mechanism to prevent the blanket from overheating or catching fire. Older blankets (prior to about 2001) may not have a shut-off mechanism; users run the risk of overheating. Older blankets are considered fire hazards.
